Outdoor activity and community involvement are important aspects of life in Newington as evidenced by the thirteen parks located throughout town.  Newington Parks and Recreation Department has done an excellent job of providing public facilities and programs for all ages.

Outdoor activities cover baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, swimming, volleyball, basketball, ice skating, bocce and walking trails. Indoor programs consist of yoga, music, ceramics, dance gymnastics, art, basketball, swimming, Pilates, aerobics, Jukido JuJitsu, scrapbooking, magic and dog obedience – just to name a few.

   


Newington is supported by a number of private facilities including Indian Hill Country Club, the Newington Arena (formerly CT International Skating Center), Newington/Wethersfield Tennis Center and the driving range at the Grantmoor Golf Center .

The Newington Senior and Disabled Center provides facilities for Newington 's very active senior population. Residents age 55 and older are eligible to partake in all program activities including a state of the art fitness room.

Cultural enrichment flourishes in Newington . Children and adults can participate in live theatre, as well as, the Newington Art League, garden clubs, community television and historical societies.
